Teen Fiction

Seventeen-year-old Daisy Tuck has a dream to become Australia's, and the world's first Megahero. Megaheroes, she explains to her best friend Leon Baker, are no ordinary heroes, but rather heroes who are just far too awesome to merely be "super". Leon simply cannot believe something so absurd. But when Daisy is struck down suddenly by a bout of appendicitis, strange things begin to happen. Leon stumbles across the world's first Megavillains - the environmentally-friendly evil scientist, Dr Aurelius Green, and his partner the Ginger Ninja - in their world-ending plans. And when they stumble upon a secret laboratory of technological equipment, including a jet-pack to fly and a pair of high-tech sunglasses to conceal her identity from the world, suddenly Daisy has all the tools she needs to transform herself, despite Leon's hesitation, into a new alter-ego: Appendix Man.After clumsily scraping through a folied robbery attempt in her first night as a a Megahero, Daisy and Leon start down the trail to Dr Green and the Ginger Ninja, encountering new friends along the way. They meet the driven conspiracy theorist Ash, the cranky body-guard Gloria, and a mysterious teacher Hong, in their attempts to foil Green's theft of the final piece he needs to build his world-ending "Phazzmabot".In saving Leon from the clutches Green's henchmen, Daisy is captured and taken to the Megavillain's secret base in central Australia. Suddenly it's up to Leon to try and rescue the Megahero he barely believed could exist. He escapes a hair-raising car chase against the Ginger Ninja, and sneaks his way into the base to rescue his best friend so that Appendix Man can put an end to this once and for all. With plenty of action and lots of laughs, Appendix Man is a story that can be enjoyed by both girls and boys, showing that all you need to save the world is an irrepressible attitude and a best friend by your side who always has your back.
