Joan's adventures continue into the later 1930s when the worst of the Great Depression that affected many countries of the world was fading, but the possibility of war was casting a shadow. Joan continues to live with her sister and parents in Black Rock, Victoria, Australia, with special fun times away at the family holiday house in Rosebud, on the Mornington Peninsula.
